Summary: We all know that at some point, the world around us will change on such a fundamental level that we'll need to adapt fast. Sadly, this world ended up going headfirst into that turf because of circumstances almost completely out of our control. But hey, at least the new ecosystem's pretty cool!

History: One day, a meteor known as Agatha 616 came towards Earth before getting destroyed by nuclear weapons. But that arguably made things worse, as the irradiated fragments ended up mutating the local cold-blooded wildlife into monstrous beasts. In the end, the kaiju-sized creatures perished, but at the cost of just about all of civilization. Now, humanity mostly lives underground as nature takes what was once hers. But hardly any of that is going to stop a boy in Fairfield, California from trekking across the treacherous terrain to find the one he loves.

Final Fate: After being menaced by all sorts of vicious (and not-so vicious) creatures, our protag finds his sweetheart...only to end up having to face off against a gang led by her abusive boyfriend, who also happens to own a monster crab. But the boy sees torment in the beast's eyes, and frees it. As the crustacean eats its captors by capsizing their boat, the boy goes on to lead mankind out of the darkness with his newly acquired survival skills.

Powers/Abilities: None.

Weakness: Heavy artillery, depending on the monster's size. Also, the bigger and more human the eyes look, the more likely they can be docile. Chumblers also have poor eyesight.

Scariness Factor: 4-This is a world that has abandoned humanity, indeed. While some creatures like the Boulder Snail and the Sky Jellies can be cute and beautiful, there are plenty that can figure out several ways to destroy you. The Graboid-esque Sand Gobblers and the centipede/earwig-like Chumblers come to mind. Even that crab, for all its intellect, is a freaky sight. You just have to be sharp, these days.

Trivia: -Originally called "Monster Problems", this film was announced all the way in 2012, but only really got off the ground when Dylan O'Brien was cast in the lead role in 2018. Persistence pays off.

-A pair of two major characters in this film are played by Michael Rooker and Ariana Greenblatt, who were also Yondu and young Gamora from the "Guardians of the Galaxy" franchise.
